Flinders Island, Tasmania
We are a small boutique winery producing outstanding wines in a unique island environment. We complete the whole winemaking process on Flinders Island, located northeast of mainland Tasmania.
Our wines are made from grapes of the highest quality grown in a pristine environment due to our coastal location in the path of the ‘Roaring Forties’. Our situation on the banks of the Samphire River in the lee of the Strzelecki Range provides a unique micro climate and this combined with our clean air, water and soil ensures the perfect ‘terroir’.
This was given recognition when our 2006 Sauvignon Blanc was rated as one of the ‘Best of the Best by Variety’ in the ‘James Halliday Australian Wine Companion 2008 Edition’. Our Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling were described as ‘Two quite lovely wines’ and established our vineyard with a 4 ½ star rating. More success followed when our 2008 Sauvignon was awarded a Bronze medal at the Royal Hobart International Wine Show in 2008. See further reviews, including one written by food and wine gurus Sue Dyson and Roger Mc Shane on www.foodtourist.com.
Our wines epitomise Flinders Island ‘in a bottle’. Community involvement during each part of the grape growing and winemaking process brings another dimension to the product and sets it apart from the general wines of ‘today’. Each vintage is different and reflects the conditions of seasons past and present. Our wines develop as a response to the patience and care bestowed upon them.
Enjoy our wines as much as we’ve enjoyed bringing them to you!
